Test and Balance Field Technician

Position Description

Pangea is an industry leader in the Southwest and offers career growth opportunities in both the TAB and commissioning fields. A TAB technician will be responsible for always representing Pangea and themselves professionally and with integrity. They will be responsible in part or in whole for multiple aspects of the assigned project. Responsibilities will include aspects of project management, execution of work, quality control, profitability, technician training, customer relations, personnel management, scheduling, etc. 

Responsibilities

  • Must have a strong understanding of the Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing industry. This includes familiarity with equipment, testing procedures, best practices, and basic engineering concepts for commercial HVAC systems.
  • Inspection of HVAC systems for compliance with plans, specs, and design intent.
  • Forensic evaluation of systems to identify and resolve installation, operation, or design issues and deficiencies.
  • Test and adjust systems per AABC, NEBB, and company standards.
  • Performance TAB activities for both air and hydronic systems.
  • Read and interpret project mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing strategies and project approaches.
  • Prepare each project by conducting a system design review and assembling the required test forms for documentation purposes.
  • Maintain proper documentation of daily activities using project specific reporting procedures. This includes all TAB activities, progress tracking, and issues identified. Documentation should have clear verbiage and be accompanied by any supporting documentation (as required).
  • Effective collaboration with coworkers and industry partners.

Qualifications

  •  High School diploma 
  • 2 years minimum TAB experience 
  • Able to clear background check
  • Must have a clean driving record 
  • Must be a US citizen 
  • Pass drug screening per project requirements 
  • Must live in the Phoenix area prior to hire date.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised. 
  • Must be open to feedback and mentoring. 
  • Proficiency in mathematics is required 
  • Committed to safe working practices 
  • Must have good organizational, written and communication skills. 

Physical Demand

  • Ability to climb and work off ladders, climb extension ladders to roof. 
  • Ability to lift 50 - 100 pounds, to extend arms over head to facilitate testing of HVAC equipment. 
  • Willing to work ten-hour shifts when required.
  • Willing to work after hours and weekends when required. 

Compensation

  • The hourly rate will be based on experience and capability.  
  • Year-end bonus
